In preparation for my trip back to China, I have purchased a travel fedora. It is a special hat that you can "pack" and it supposedly will spring back to shape. Last trip to China I wore a cowboy hat! That is not part of the hat but earphones hanging otherwise it would not be a fedora. ;)

Addemdum: The hat was great but came slightly damaged so back it goes. I think I'll get a black one to replace it.

Just today a friend complained that their Macbook of almost three years was being repaired for the 2nd time in as many weeks. I offered this wonderful solution to get a replacement. I've had this work four times for my clients and friends, well today makes five.
If your computer has had many repairs, call AppleCare. Be very polite but offer that it's a very poor performer compared to the normal, i.e. a lemon but I never say that word. Ask them can "someone" please help you. They may offer to let a supervisor or someone higher talk with you. It can take and did take me about an hour and a half. Once it took a call back from Apple. I even spoke to the PR department at Apple - they called me and made everything better.
A new iMac was the result of every call I've made and even today my friend is getting a new Macbook. The secret is to be very professional and polite. I'm not sure this will work every time. I am so very happy for those I've helped directly. I am happy for Apple as its given them very good impressions repeated by those I've helped and myself.
Oh almost forgot. One of my clients iMac was out-of-warranty by four months and I got them a replacement! How? I had it turned it for service, the fifth time in three years j
ust before the warranty ended. Well, the client didn't call me for months after I returned the repaired iMac. Why? They were so used to it not working they didn't even bother to tell me it stopped working about a week after my last visit! But a call, a long call to Apple took care of my client. Apple gave them a brand new iMac with a full new warranty. That computer has been running fine for over a year now! Just as it should.

P.S. Document your call while at the end of the call. I wrote down the name of the person, their phone number, confirmed mine or my clients. It was helpful.
Update: The person who prompted this post, a friend of my friend in the first paragraph sadly did not get a good response.

I am watching it on my tv via the Seagate FreeAgent Theater+. It is a YouTube movie. You know they have real movies now on Youtube? Just visit "Channels".
